Teaching Module (Probability)

Lesson 1

Title: Basic Concepts and Definitions

Objective: To clarify the basic concepts in probability theory such as sample space, events and probability function. Set notations (e.g. union and intersection) will be used.

Before the lesson,

• Make sure that students understand the basic set notations such as the empty set f, the interval [a,b], union and intersection. The notion of function will also be used.
• Arrange, preferably, one computer with internet connection for each student.
• Prepare one copy of worksheet and the comics for each student.

Note: it is highly recommended to use PDF to print the worksheet and comics.
